Case Study: Insomnia
Elaine has suffered from insomnia for over 25 years. She is reluctant to take any sleeping pills as she feels that they may affect her ability to work.
In the past, she has had time off work after long periods of sleep deprivation. For the past 3 months, she has been wearing a wristband that allows her to monitor her sleep patterns. Her preferred amount of sleep or target is 7 hours. Wearing the wristband has helped to alleviate the stress around her insomnia as it offers a more definitive look at the amount of sleep and the type of sleep; awake, light and deep.
Elaine attended for a Bioenergy treatment in March 2015. Due to the sleep monitoring, we were able to take comparative readings from the week before to during and after the treatment. Each Bioenergy treatment consists of 4 sessions over 4 consecutive days.
These images are from the week before Elaine’s treatment, these are typical of her sleep pattern. The orange areas show awake time. Getting into the 80 percent of preferred sleep time is an achievement.

After the second session of four, Elaine was able to achieve 98% of her sleep target, sleeping for 6hrs 54 mins. When she did wake up, she went back to sleep quickly.
After Session 3, the graphic shows that Elaine achieved 92% of her preferred sleep time at 6hrs 29 mins, again falling back to sleep quickly when she did wake up.
After Session 4, Elaine’s message said “Awake for less than an hour in total and a solid chunk of sleep, feeling pretty good this morning”.

Four days after the treatment, Elaine reported that she had slept for almost 8 hours; "I don't actually remember being awake apart from going to the loo. I've got so much energy too. Thank you"
Over a month after the treatment, Elaine sent a message to say that she had recorded a full night of uninterrupted sleep. "This is the first time in years that this has happened, I'm so happy, thank you"
